Sharing stories and making memories: English Cathedrals launch summer campaign #WishYouWereHere

Wish You Were Here Summer 2025 Campaign

This week we are launching our summer campaign #WishYouWereHere inviting our visitors to make our cathedrals part of their story this summer.

Free Wish You Were Here postcards are available in every cathedral to send to family and friends or capture those magic moments, and there are selfie portrait frames for people to share their memorable cathedral stories on their social media too with posts or reels or videos using the hashtag #WishYouWereHere.

A spokesperson for the Association of English Cathedrals said,

‘This summer we are inviting people to make our cathedrals part of their story.

‘Our cathedrals are places of welcome and prayer, they serve as gathering spaces at the heart of their communities as they have done for centuries and this summer campaign is a warm invitation to everyone to gather with us and with those they love in these majestic buildings where prayer is part of the very fabric.

The 42 Church of England Cathedrals are home to the tombs of kings, queens and princes and the shrines of saints and martyrs. They include UNESCO World Heritage Sites and many of them care for some of the country’s most unique treasures including the Mappa Mundi, copies of the Magna Carta, 15th century pilgrim boots, the smallest sundial, ancient texts and other treasures.

And this summer, as they do every year, our cathedrals are offering a varied programme of art, crafts, family events and performance-based activities from Luke Jerram’s installations, the Bible brought to glorious life in a million stitches, Luxmuralis’ Peace Doves and other artist exhibitions alongside concerts, weekly music offerings, literary events, lectures, exhibitions, fairs, dance, theatre and occasionally film.

Do check ahead on the cathedral website for latest up to date information.

Do remember to share your photos on your social media using the hashtag #WishYouWereHere.
