Flower Arranging Team – Birmingham Cathedral
The team are responsible for our flower displays, seasonal bouquets and floral tributes for weddings.
Not only do the flower team contribute to our liturgical worship in flora and fauna, colour and seasonal texture of our flower displays, seasonal bouquets and floral tributes for weddings, these fabulous displays are a talking point for those entering Birmingham Cathedral as a place of worship.
And they manage to transform a Georgian building into a place of tranquillity and sanctuary in a busy thoroughfare.
‘But what makes our team distinct is their care for the vulnerable and the lonely.
‘Amongst these unique individuals who make up the flower-arranging team, is the desire to sow the seeds of a pastoral mission and ministry.
‘They engage with the most vulnerable and people who would not normally ask for help. As chaplain to the Cathedral, I have had many referrals from this team, emails of concern, for the health and well-being of members of our congregation who are often invisible or are at the fringes of the community.
‘The members of this team are a group of Christians who have extended their talents into pastoral counselling and spiritual direction, and as a community, we are blessed with the generosity of their time and energy.‘
