Fully Staged Nativity Auditions Underway at Hereford Cathedral
23rd July 2025
Hereford Cathedral is preparing to tell the story of the birth of Jesus in a fully staged production this November.
Auditions are taking place in Hereford Cathedral this week for members of the local community to play their part, either on stage or as part of the crew.

The Hereford Nativity will explore the origins of Christmas in a fresh and dynamic way which will appeal to Christians and non-Christians alike and follows on the back of the sell-out success of last year’s Hereford Passion.
It will be directed by the Revd Canon Chancellor James Pacey, a former theatre director before ordination. He said,
“Last year’s production of The Hereford Passion was a fantastic experience with two sold-out shows in the cathedral nave and a host of cast members from our local community taking to the stage.
‘I am really looking forward to replicating the same success with The Hereford Nativity and would love to hear from anyone who would like to be part of the production.
‘Prior acting experience is not essential, but a passion for theatre and performance is needed to help us share this amazing story. Whether you worship at the cathedral daily or have never walked through the doors before, you’re very welcome to get in touch to find out more.”
The cast and crew of the Hereford Nativity will be formed by the local community and across Hereford Diocese.
Details to register interest for informal auditions can be found on the Hereford Cathedral website here.
