Westminster Abbey has announced a special exhibition of icons this September.

Icons for Hope and Faith – Westminster Abbey

The exhibition, called Icons for Hope and Faith, will be on display in The Undercroft, Westminster Abbey from 18th – 20th September 2025

This is a bi-annual exhibition from the British Association of Iconographers which brings together works by experienced icon writers, teachers and novices.

There will be more than a hundred icons in this special exhibition with iconographer Hanna Ward, giving demonstrations of the prayerful process of icon writing in the Abbey’s Chapter House throughout each day.

There will be opportunities to delve deeper with a series of short talks from members of the British Association of Iconographers.

Icons are moving expressions of hope and faith, providing a focus for prayer and meditation.

The exhibition is free with entry to the Abbey and is open during visiting hours:

• Thursday 18th September: 9:30am – 3:30pm
• Friday 19th September: 9:30am – 3:30pm
• Saturday 20th September: 9:30am – 1:00pm
