Wednesday 23 September at 7.15pm. An Organ Recital of Elgar’s Organ Sonata in G Major, with Gloucester Cathedral’s Director of Music, Adrian Partington.

Join us on Wednesday 23 September  for an unforgettable evening of soaring sound and musical excellence, enjoying magnificent organ acoustics as it’s played by our Director of Music, Adrian Partington.  The evening showcases the feature piece, Elgar’s monumental Organ Sonata in G major – a thrilling masterpiece of rich romanticism and heroic flair – alongside a vibrant selection of works written by Gloucester Cathedral’s own musicians.

Guests will enjoy a unique talk before the music from Adrian himself.

Tickets £12.00.  £8.00 young adults (16-25).  Under 16s free when attending with paying adult.  Booking advised.

Tuesday 29 September at 6.30pm.  Unwind with an hour of inspiring music, experiencing the magnificence of our new Cathedral organ.  The programme will feature Neil Cox’s evocative work, Four Ikons of the Archangels.  Played by Gloucester Cathedral’s own Assistant Director of Music, Jonathan Hope, this atmospheric performance journeys through the dramatic profiles of Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel.

Whether you are a lifelong lover of sacred music or simply seeking a tranquil sanctuary in the heart of the city, this evening meditation is a wonderful way to finish your day.  Let the rich tones of the Cathedral’s new organ wash over you as twilight settles through the nave.
