Ripon Cathedral showcases all the pomp and all the glory in music and storytelling in one million stitches.

All the Pomp, All the Glory; Ripon’s Summer Chorale Finale headlines a mix of live music and orchestral evenings this summer in Ripon Cathedral.

The concert showcases the British choral tradition with British wit from the grandeur of Handel’s coronation anthem Zadok the Priest and Parry’s exquisite sacred works that have defined the quintessential sound of Anglican worship for generations.

In the second half the choir presents stirring performances of Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory and Blake’s Jerusalem before the evening takes a playful turn with reimagined choral arrangements of the beloved themes from The Vicar of Dibley and Mr. Bean.

The lay clerks (professional singers) will transport you to the 1930s with their close harmony renditions in true British tradition.

Tickets via the website.

And next month visitors are invited to take pause and reflect with Threads through the Cross, the powerful third part of a unique textile trilogy, running from July 3 to August 4 by textile artist Jacqui Parkinson.

This striking exhibition begins with the birth of Jesus and takes visitors on a visual journey through key moments in his life, including the cross, resurrection, and Pentecost.

Threads through the Cross is the third of three huge sequences by the artist and provides a dramatic link between Threads through Creation and Threads through Revelation. Entry to the cathedral is free, find out more here.
