All our cathedrals have exciting programmes for everyone throughout this summer – from headline exhibitions to family days and arts and crafts – and all are underpinned by the daily rhythm of prayer and worship.
Some of our cathedrals charge entry and there may be a fee at others for specific events, but all our cathedrals are free to enter for prayer, worship or to light a candle.

Buzz in the city with Chelmsford Cathedral
Chelmsford Cathedral will be at the heart of its city’s summer adventure when for ten weeks, a swarm of giant and mini bee sculptures will be installed in a special art trail through streets, parks and places of interest.
The art trail is completely free for everyone to enjoy and can be followed using a printed map or a mobile app to discover more about each of the 30 bees, its artist and its sponsors.
After the trail closes the bee artworks will be auctioned off to raise much-needed funds for Farleigh Hospice, a charity that provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to adults with a life-limiting illness and their families and carers across mid-Essex.
Chelmsford Cathedral’s Chief Operating Officer Justine Horseman Sewell said,
“We are delighted to be part of the Chelmsford “Buzz in the City” art trail event.
‘We will be welcoming one of the wonderful bee sculptures for exhibition in our Churchyard, and will be using this as a focus for a whole programme of summer events here at the Cathedral.
‘We are very proud to play a part in the community, helping to raise funds for local hospice care, and of our Gold Eco church award. We will be thinking about bees, biodiversity, food sourcing, our environment and the important part we all play in caring for our natural world in the coming months.”
Chelmsford Cathedral was only the second cathedral to achieve Gold Eco Church award in the A Rocha UK environmental awards for its work in inspiring and encouraging others to be good stewards of God’s earth and reflects its determination to put caring for God’s creation at the heart of its ministry and mission.
