Chichester Cathedral Wins Award for Chichester950 Campaign

18th February 2026

Chichester Cathedral is celebrating after winning Marketing Campaign of the Year by the Association of Cultural Enterprises for its Chichester950 campaign.

Chichester950 Campaign Wins Marketing Campaign of the Year.

This year-long project saw an ambitious and diverse programme of events to celebrate 950 years of religious, cultural, and civic life through music, history and art.

There were services planned in every church in the diocese, a family camp, pilgrimages, new music, new artwork, a light show, a special exhibition that marked nine centuries of Sussex history through objects as varied as medieval Bishops’ rings, a 12th-century reliquary, a 15th-century theological treatise and a Bible carried into the trenches during the First World War.

Oliver Tubb, Head of Marketing & Visitor Experience, Chichester Cathedral, said,

“We’re absolutely delighted that Chichester950 has been recognised as Marketing Campaign of the Year by the Association of Cultural Enterprises.

‘This campaign focussed on inviting people from near and far to share in 950 years of faith, history, creativity and community.

‘To have welcomed over 200,000 people through the Cathedral’s doors, taking part in so many creative activities and celebrations – from a sound and light experience, to a mini festival – has been deeply rewarding.

‘This recognition belongs to the brilliant team here, and to our collaborators and partners, who helped to share such a special story.”

Chichester950 was a year‑long campaign celebrating the Cathedral’s 950th anniversary through exhibitions, concerts, community projects and major city partnerships. Boosting engagement, fundraising and national profile, it delivered standout moments including a sold‑out Bernstein concert and TrinityFest.

The Luxmuralis light show raised around £150k, family events involved 1,500 children, and by November 2025 it had reached 200k people and 1.8 million digital views.

Winchester Cathedral won an award for it’s Whales exhibition at the same ceremony – read about it here.
