We are proud as punch to announce that Norwich Cathedral is the last stop on Dippy’s tour!
Yes – that’s right – we’ve got a dinosaur coming to one of our Cathedrals!
In 2018 venues for #DippyOnTour saw huge increases in attendance as people flocked to see the diplodocus skeleton who had lived for over a century in the Hintze Hall in London’s Natural History Museum.
Birmingham’s Museum and Art Gallery saw a visitor hike of nearly 40% and Dippy attracted over 250,000 people.
In Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum – where visitors can see Dippy until May 2019 – visitor numbers have far exceeded that making it the most popular stop on his tour so far.
Before his Glasgow date, over 100,000 people went to see him in the Ulster Museum where he stayed from September 2018 to December 2018 as part of his Natural History Adventure!
Alva – the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions reported this week that Dippy has smashed visitor records everywhere he has visited.
Dippy’s first stop was at Dorset’s County Museum where 153,00
In all, over half a million people are expected to see Dippy while he is on his UK tour.
Why are we excited about these numbers?
Because the last stop for Dippy on tour is Norwich Cathedral where he arrives in July 2020.
