New mobile phone audio tour launched at Truro Cathedral

It is an extra offer for visitors to Truro Cathedral allowing people to wander independently and enjoying the knowledge of the cathedral’s expert volunteer tour guides at their own pace.

A spokesperson for the cathedral said,

‘This project has been made possible thanks to the generous and continuing support of the Friends of Truro Cathedral.”

‘Their commitment to enriching the visitor experience has played a vital role in bringing the audio tour to life, and the cathedral is deeply grateful.’

The tour has been developed with Penelewey Tours and can be accessed through the VoiceMap app, available for download from the App Store or Google Play.

Once the app is installed and the tour code entered, visitors can connect to the cathedral’s WiFi to download the content before setting off.

A mobile phone and your own headphones are needed, and the tour can be purchased at the Welcome Desk.

The Audio Tour offers a relaxed, engaging and flexible way to discover the cathedral’s history and architecture, making it easier than ever for visitors to immerse themselves with the fascinating stories and history behind the building.

Truro Cathedral has a number of tour options available for visitors  – including this latest mobile tour plus a virtual tour.

Regular tours take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from March to October 2026. Remaining at ground level, these tours explore the key features of the building’s history and architecture and last about an hour.

Highlights include the Parish Church contained within the cathedral, several of the chapels, the Sanctuary, decorations and of course the stained-glass windows.

There are also roof tours and tower tours run at certain times and days throughout the year.
