Lighting up red, white and blue, commemorative worship, music, bunting and bellringing – all our cathedrals are getting ready to remember, reflect and give thanks to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for peace in our times.

A service to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day will be held at Westminster Abbey on Thursday 8th May 2025 at noon.
The service, which is invitation only, will be led by the Dean of Westminster, The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle and sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey. It will form part of the nation’s celebrations to honour and pay tribute to the Second World War generation.
The service will be broadcast live on the BBC and will feature prayers, readings, music and special performances.
