Volunteer Team of the Year Finalist – Voluntary Choir
03rd June 2025
Voluntary Choir – Derby Cathedral
The Voluntary Choir has made an outstanding contribution to the life of Derby Cathedral through their regular leadership and enhancement of worship.
By consistently stepping in to lead services, they have played a key role in balancing the workload of the Cathedral’s other choirs, ensuring that the standard of worship remains both vibrant and sustainable.
Their musical and spiritual leadership is marked by dedication, reliability, and a deep sense of service to the wider community.
In addition to regular commitments, they have led several important services throughout the year.
In June, they took a leading role in a special service honouring the voluntary and community sectors across the County – an occasion that brought much deserved recognition to local unsung heroes.
In November, they led a reflective and dignified service to commemorate the faithful departed, offering comfort and remembrance to many.
Over the Christmas period, their contribution was especially valuable, leading numerous services including a Carol Service at a local care home. This enabled residents, many of whom are unable to attend church, to share in the joy and spirit of the season.
