St Albans Cathedral will mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a special choral evensong on Thursday, 8th May at 5.00pm sung by the Abbey Singers.
During the service, there will be an act of remembrance and prayers will be offered for peace in our world today. All are welcome. The service will be followed by bell-ringing as the Cathedral Change Ringers take part in the National Ring Out in Celebration event from 6.30pm.
On 8 May 1945, people across the UK took to the streets to celebrate the end of the Second World War in Europe. Eighty years on, join us in our very own VE Day celebrations with a VE Dance in the Nave on Saturday 10th May at 7.30pm. We start with drinks and puddings before dancing the evening away to vintage sounds performed by the Fleetville Swing Band. Come in your 1940s dress or wear red, white and blue (though not compulsory)!
A pay bar will be running and tickets to include a pudding are £20.
