Luxmuralis – Truro and Hereford Cathedrals

16th January 2026

Hereford and Truro Cathedrals are getting ready to welcome back visitors to experience the immersive sound and light experience created by Luxmuralis this January.

New Year: New light show – Luxmuralis will transform Truro and Hereford Cathedrals this January

It is only the second time both cathedrals have hosted work by the creative duo that make up Luxmuralis.

In 2024, Hereford Cathedral was transformed by Luxmuralis’ Space which saw over seven thousand people visit the cathedral over four nights.

Truro Cathedral too saw an overwhelming positive response to the show, Space when it hosted the show last January (2025).

Both cathedrals will now host Time.  Truro, from Monday 12 – Saturday 17 January and Hereford from Tuesday 20 – Saturday 24.

Sean O’Neill, chief operating officer at Truro Cathedral said,

“We are excited to be bringing Luxmuralis back again to showcase, Time.

‘This remarkable artwork will fill the cathedral with light, colour and sound, offering visitors the chance to experience the building in a completely different way. It’s a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to come together, reflect on the theme of time, and see the cathedral’s beauty in a new light.”

The Very Revd Sarah Brown, Dean of Hereford, said:

“I am very much looking forward to this exploration of time writ large all over the cathedral. Not only will it be an amazing event – those who explored Space with us in 2024 will doubtless remember how our wonderful cathedral was the perfect location for such a grand spectacle – but it opens our minds to some big questions: how God works within and outside of time, our place in time and how we use it, and the relationship of science and God.

‘I can’t wait to see what Luxmuralis makes of all that – and to see the responses of tiny children and older heads alike to this extraordinary sensory spectacle!’

Peter Walker, artistic director for Luxmuralis said,

“We are delighted to be returning to Hereford and Truro Cathedrals. It was such a joy to welcome so many people into these unique spaces, and to see the cathedral come alive in a completely new way.”

During the day, the cathedrals will appear to visitors as usual but in the evening the installations will be completely transform the interior walls and ceilings as the artwork transports visitors through wormholes, allows them to venture inside the intricate workings of clocks, and explores the present day back to the beginning of time.

Luxmuralis is made up of Peter Walker (sculptor) and David Harper (composer). Time has already been to some cathedrals across the country, including Salisbury, Exeter and Lincoln.
