With just days to go, Peterborough Cathedral has issued a rallying call for people to help them reach its target fundraiser of £300k by the end of this month.
Last few days to reach the Peterborough Cathedral fund-raising target
In January, the Grade 1 listed cathedral, home to the tomb of Katherine of Aragon, launched an urgent fundraising appeal to secure its future asking for donations of £300,000 before the end of March.
Peterborough Cathedral has received widespread support from across the country, with many local businesses, community groups, and individuals rallying behind the cause.
The Head of Fundraising at Peterborough Cathedral, Anna Bentley said:
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated to this campaign so far. We have been overwhelmed by such kindness and generosity.
“Every pound raised makes a difference, and we are urging everyone who values the Cathedral to give what they can. Together, we can secure its future.”
What Your Donations Could Support:
- £2.50 – Could buy 50 candles for remembering loved ones
- £5 – Half a day of activity for a child during the Easter holidays
- £10 – Seeds for the Cathedral’s wildflower garden
- £20 – Tools and equipment for the volunteer gardening team
- £50 – Tree maintenance or mowing the West Lawn
- £250 – Funding for an evensong service to take place

With no regular funding from the Government, and limited funding from the Church Commissioners, our cathedrals survive or fall by their ability to find creative ways and partnerships to generate the income needed to fund, not just operational costs, but also the huge costs of repair and maintenance.
Only ten of our cathedrals, plus the two Royal Peculiars of Westminster Abbey and St George’s Chapel, Windsor, charge an entrance fee.
Despite that, all our cathedrals are free to enter for worship, for prayer and to light a candle, and no-one would ever be turned away.
