Southwell Minster is the second cathedral to host the textile masterpiece, Threads through the Bible by artist Jacqui Parkinson, that tells the story of God’s enduring love, the trials of humanity, and the triumphs of faith from Creation to Revelation in 25 million stitches.

It is only the second time this powerful display has been seen in all its glory, weaving together the timeless teachings of the Bible into one visual experience.
Threads Through the Bible combines three of Jacqui’s exhibitions: ‘Threads through Creation’, ‘Threads through the Cross’ and ‘Threads through Revelation’making 44 silk panels, stretching 80 meters in length and almost 30 metres in height.
Visitors can go on a journey through an inspiring across the 44 panels, from the first pages of the Bible through key moments in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, to the extraordinary visions in Revelation.
Taking ten years to create, this 44-panel exhibition is made up of more than 25 million stitches and if presented side by side, would stretch more than 80 metres.

“It’s lovely to be returning to Southwell Minster, where two parts of Threads through the Bible (Creation and Revelation) were very popular in recent years and added a sparkle to its gentle atmosphere.
“Now all three parts come together, and the result will be astonishing – with colour and drama in the beautiful setting of the Minster!”

“This is probably not only the largest textile project by a single artist ever, but also the largest textile project for hundreds of years.
“It is incredible in its scale and variety and we’re very excited to be able to host this wonderful installation at Southwell Minster.”
Entry is by donation of £5 per person or £10 for families.
It costs Southwell around £3,000 a day just to keep the Minster open.
The Cathedrals of the Church of England receive limited funding from the church and government and rely on donations, legacies and grants as well as the income they can generate for themselves.
Threads through the Bible – 7 March – 5 May – there is a series of talks and a workshop with the artist.
