Bradford Cathedral stars in the Church of England’s Advent campaign

30th December 2024

It’s a first for the community of Bradford Cathedral as they star in the Church of England’s Advent campaign this year, Calm and Bright.

The campaign features a series of time lapse videos capturing the busyness of the season and invites people to pause, find a moment of calm and rediscover the Christmas story at a church near them.

These messages are shared through seven short films, each telling a unique story of individuals finding calm in church settings.

Members of the cathedral’s choir, the clergy and the congregation as well as the building itself star in the video campaign which takes inspiration from the words ‘calm and bright’ from the popular carol, ‘Silent Night’

The Dean of Bradford, the Very Revd Andy Bowerman said:

“It’s exciting for the cathedral and its community to star in the Church of England’s Advent campaign this year and I want to extend a warm welcome to everyone to take time out of their busy lives to attend our Advent and Christmas services and events during the coming weeks.

“As ever, you’ll be able to Follow Our Star on top of the tower and find your way to this hidden treasure at the heart of the city.

“Throughout the Advent season there’ll be all sorts of exciting opportunities for you to come and, not just engage in worship, but explore the Cathedral and join in some of our many events. There’ll be carol services, there’ll be mince pies and mulled wine; all sorts of ways that we want to generously welcome you into your Cathedral at the heart of this city.”

The films are available on the Church of England’s YouTube channel and are being shared widely across social media platforms.
