Kenneth Wilson, also known as Highway Cello, is a former vicar, property developer, and reformed vegetarian who once ran an India travel company. Now, he performs a wide variety of solo cello music, ranging from Bach to Bond, tango, and Irish airs.
His performances are often enhanced by poetic commentary that both complements and sometimes subverts the music.Kenneth is the author of The Definitions of Kitchen Verbs and Orange Dust: Journeys After the Buddha, which was described by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as “inspirational.”
In 2022, he cycled with his cello from Hadrian’s Wall to Rome, performing daily along the way. His book, Highway Cello, captures the essence of this journey and forms the basis of his current performances, which combine readings and music.
