Have you ever been on a swing inside a Cathedral? Leicester Cathedral is excited to host “Plants and Play,” an installation by artist Mandeep Dhadialla, until Thursday 31 October 2024. This free interactive artwork celebrates the importance of play for our well-being and offers an extraordinary experience for visitors of all ages.
At its heart is a charming garden swing, inviting people to sit and enjoy the simple act of swinging while immersed in a stunning suspended paper garden and the sound of birdsong. With its vibrant display of oversized flowers, fruits, foliage, and wildlife, this magical garden surrounds visitors and evokes wonder and delight.
The installation encourages visitors to rediscover the power of play to uplift spirits and spark conversations about caring for the environment. Dhadialla’s work seamlessly blends art and nature, reminding us of the beauty of the world and the importance of cherishing it.
Leicester Cathedral invites you to swing in its enchanting garden, where play becomes a transformative experience. With free entry from 9.30am to 4.30pm daily (subject to Cathedral services), it’s an experience not to be missed.
In addition to the installation, a series of engaging events will run throughout October, offering creative activities for all. These include a free open play session for babies and children up to eight years old, a screening of the film The Secret Garden, and free family craft activities during the Leicester half-term break.
