Gloucester Cathedral receives generous grant from Barnwood Trust to support inclusive wellbeing activities
Gloucester Cathedral is delighted to have received a generous grant of £9,751.80 from Barnwood Trust to support its commitment to community projects and inclusive wellbeing activities.
The grant will be used to support the weekly running of the Cathedral’s Walking Rugby and Gardening for Wellbeing activities. These groups provide inclusive opportunities for individuals many of whom are living with disabilities and mental health conditions. They encourage members to build new friendships in a relaxed and calming environment.
Participants in Gardening for Wellbeing grow their gardening knowledge by tending flower beds, planting bulbs, and creating wheelchair-accessible planters. It is aimed at anyone whose health and wellbeing needs a boost. The Walking Rugby programme includes two groups: one designed for individuals, many of whom are living with limited mobility or mild disabilities, while the other has been created for wheelchair users and those with severe physical disabilities.
