Blackburn Cathedral hosted an exhibition that brought parish life into bloom over the weekend – part of its centenary celebrations.
Parishes in Bloom transformed Blackburn Cathedral with stunning flower displays as churches across the county were depicted in floral form.
This special centenary exhibition held over the weekend was organised by the Friends of Blackburn Cathedral and saw parishes from Bolton-le-Sands, down to Slaidburn, across to Kirkham, and as far south as Standish, alongside many others from right across the region.
Lead organiser on behalf of the Friends, Canon Andy Pratt MBE, said:
“We’re delighted to have opened Parishes in Bloom. This very special event is being held as part of the centenary celebrations of both Blackburn Cathedral and the Diocese of Blackburn.
‘There are many churches from across Lancashire that took part, each showcasing life in their parish through stunning creations, bringing to life the amazing talents of dedicated volunteers.”
The Revd. Canon Andrew Horsfall, Interim Dean of Blackburn said:
“Our centenary year has been filled with commemorative events and this exhibition was certainly a highlight of our special year. It is wonderful to see the results of months of planning, preparation, and creative collaboration. The spectacular floral displays created by our friends across the diocese give people a taste of all that our county has to offer – in flowers!”
This event was presented by The Friends of Blackburn Cathedral, an independent charity who raise funds to support projects that enhance the fabric and facilities of the Cathedral.
